New interactive tabletop lectern offers portability and flexibility
Calgary, AB --- March 6, 2003 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces the Sympodium TL-150 interactive tabletop lectern. Designed to sit on top of any flat podium or desk, the TL-150 gives presenters the freedom to place the lectern at a location of their convenience, then present material using various multimedia tools, annotate over top of applications in electronic ink and save their notes in a single file. With the room’s projector displaying the presentation onto a larger screen, the audience can easily follow along.

interactive whiteboard, SMART’s flagship product. The Sympodium TL-150 tabletop lectern includes an interactive console and SMART Board software. It is part of SMART’s Sympodium product line which comprises the Sympodium L-150 interactive lectern, the Sympodium IC-150 integration module and the Sympodium IM-150 integration module. The Sympodium L-150 interactive lectern is a mobile, secure lectern with peripheral storage, while both the Sympodium IC-150 and IM-150 integration modules allow integrators to design and build custom presentation furniture, such as podiums or desks.

Tabletop Lectern
Angled so presenters can view and use it comfortably, the Sympodium TL-150 tabletop lectern also has nonskid rubber feet to protect furniture on which it sits. Users have the option to either place the lectern on a flat surface or use its built-in mounting bracket to securely attach the unit to a fixed location. The connection panel provides the serial and RGB (HD DB15) connections for the computer and power. This panel facilitates portability, but when the TL-150 is fixed, the panel can be adjusted to conceal the connectors inside the unit for a seamless, integrated look.
Interactive Console
The interactive console connects to a computer and displays the computer image for the presenter. It has a 15" (diagonal) interactive screen, a viewing angle of +/-80° to enable easy viewing and supports 24-bit color and native XGA (1024 x 768) resolution. The console also features eight pen-tool buttons and a tethered battery-free stylus. Using the stylus, the presenter simply touches the screen to control computer applications and write electronic notes. The pen-tool buttons make it easy to change the stylus’s settings (left or right mouse click, ink color, eraser) or to bring up the on-screen keyboard.
SMART Board Software
With SMART Board software, users can write over top of any computer application in electronic ink, write and edit notes, record data and audio (Microsoft
Windows operating system only), and write over top of moving or still video. SMART Ideas concept-mapping software for the Microsoft Windows operating system now comes with the SMART Board software. Used for brainstorming, organizing ideas and planning projects, SMART Ideas software fosters creative, independent thinking. The combination of SMART Board software with SMART Ideas software creates a powerful set of templates and tools, including a comprehensive, expandable clip-art gallery and the ability to incorporate any multimedia or file type.
